Organic Farming, and What Beyond Organic Means

Organic is a floor, not a ceiling. It tells you what a farm refuses to use. It does not tell you whether the land is getting healthier.

Certification versus practice

Certified organic is a legal standard, audited and paperwork-heavy. Beyond organic is a practice standard: no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and beyond that, building soil, welcoming insects and birds, and closing loops on the farm itself.

What we use instead

Compost, mulch, cover, animals, and patience. Pest pressure gets answered with habitat and timing before it gets answered with a bottle.

Why this is personal

Our family has felt the cost of agricultural chemicals close to home, and it shapes how we farm. We would rather lose a crop than spray something we would not want our children standing in.

Creation Stewardship

We are caretakers of ground we did not make. That is reason enough not to poison it.
